Amazingly enough, I made it to Miami! What a trip to get here!
Here’s a map with points marking where I was most nights:

Since I last left off, a lot has happened. I arrived in Myrtle Beach as planned the day after I last posted. There I quickly made a small group of friends. My first night there, I left my bike and trailer out in the city overnight, so some of my things got taken. I have been prepared throughout my trip to let go of any of my belongings — even my bike — if it so happened I lost them or someone else needed them.
After much deliberation with myself over a couple of days, I decided to continue on my trip on a different path. I gave away some more of my things, making it possible for me to carry everything left. That night my friend Rob gave me a ride to his house in Florence, South Carolina. The next morning I headed out on foot and started hitchhiking towards Charleston, SC. With the help of five different people giving me rides, I made it the 120 miles between Florence and Charleston in less than 24 hours! Thank you to Terry, Wanda, Zjen Thak, Rebbecca Ham, and Elder Ricks.
After a quick stay in Charleston, I took an overnight Greyhound bus headed for Miami! I was late for the bus, and I was really worried because it only comes once a day. Thankfully, when I got into the bus station, drenched in sweat, I found out the bus was later than I was!
I got into Miami early Thursday morning and got in contact with some couchsurfers right away. Since then I’ve mostly just been exploring the city little by little, hanging out with these couchsurfing friends, and getting my life in order! The day before yesterday I bought a fixer-upper bicycle from craigslist for fifty bucks. Now I need to find some work and someplace to live cheaply. To explain how I feel simply, it feels good to be here.
My camera was stolen in Myrtle Beach, so I don’t have any of the pictures I had taken and I can’t take any of Miami just yet. But here are a couple pictures of the view from my couchsurfing host Alejandro’s 37th floor balcony, taken by a previous guest, Anton Krasun.
Until next time–
Love and Laughter
